Incipient Canton of Mons Draconis

• Beltane in Starkhavn on May 9
• Wars (Highland and Potrero) on May 23 weekend
• Darach Anniversary on May 30

• Renaissance Festival in Temecula. We went last year and had a good time. We need any skill that you have. All you need is garb and a good attitude. Donation of $650 (to be shared with all who participate).
• Donal O'Brien requested a $15 reimbursement for steel wire to make chainmail rings for the kids at the demo to work with and keep. Request was granted.

Canton of Gallavally request the people of Mons Draconis to help participate in the May 15 (Friday) demo in Hemet.

A Banquet (potluck) is being hosted by the College of Sancti Geronomi at Baroness Elizabeth's house in Riverside. Please call [phone # suppressed for web site] for information and reservations.

• Seneschal
  • Karolus talked about his two years as Seneschal. He said thank you to all who played and helped thought that time persion. His Excellency, Sir Thurstan, rewarded his service with a Tower of Dreiburgen at Canton Anniversary (more about Canton Anniversary below).
  • Our new Seneschal is Marie de Womwell, the Canton's former Herald.
• Treasurer's report for March (Exchequer): $1672.42
  • We made $172 at demo (minus $15 for Donal). Deposit will be $157. Plus what ever moneys come from the Avery Demo.
  • Voted to give 10% of both Anniversary proceeds and Avery Demo proceeds to the Barony.
• Herald's Report
  • Our new Herald is Baroness Ulrica de Frank, who is rebuilding her library.
  • The Canton's badge bounced at Kingdom level for unidentifiability. THL Ghislaine will assist with redoing the badge.
• A&S Report - Canton Anniversary: there was an A & S competition with many categories. It was well attended. There was a whimsical dragon, dragon scale sweets, dragon fire cordial, garb, couching, chainmail, carved horn, coins, metal work, and more.
• Chatelaine's Report - Please come the the Ben Avery school demo
• Chronicler and Scribe's report - We don't have a chronicler. Scribe's minutes are available via email. They will be in any newletter. [and of course on the web site :-)]
• Marshall's Report
  • Saturday, May 2 1998, there was a Round Robin Heave Weapons tourney with four competitors. The Canton's Heavy Weapons champion is Finnr Mathe. The tourney started with more marshals than fighters. Siobhan played field herald for the very first time.
  • Sunday, May 3 1998, 6 archers representing 3 baronies and 2 cantons shot on the archery range. There were 2 rapier fighters also that day.
• Anniversary Report - The Canton's Third Anniversary was May 2 and May 3, 1998. 52 people attended the events. We had $172 in cash and checks. Good fighting, A&S, and bardic circle that night in between.

Dragon's Tale is open at Finnr and Valinda's if people are interested.

Kingdom Calendar is based on quarters. Need to reserve 1998 May Anniversary. Donal suggested to keep the first weekend of May for the anniversary. He also offered to be a sub-autocrat. Baroness Ulrica offered to be feastocrat. Finnr offered to be the autocrat.

Dreiburgen Webpage is being maintained by Morgan (yes, I know it is spelled differently, but give this poor Irishman a break).

Valinda suggested the canton create a bumper sticker.

Possible joint event with College of Sancti Geronomi for a Town and Gown Tourney at Baronial Anniversary.

Seosaidh is now a Captain of the Kingdom's Fifth Brigade. He is trying to organize and get people fighting. What armor do fighter's need. What new fighters are out there. What about authorizations?
