Monthly Report
Canton of Mons Draconis
19 June, AS XXXVI

We had a nice turnout for our meeting on June 19th. Zoe is in the process of putting the paperwork together to become our Minister of the Lists. Recent events (mundane life) has made it impossible for Rain to continue as the Canton's Arts and Science officer. Interested parties should contact Lord Carolus. Hopefully Rain and Boovar's schedule will not be so hectic soon and they can come back and play. As you know, there are several officer posts which may need to be filled or may need deputies. In addition to Arts and Sciences Officer and List Minister, Scribe (takes the minutes) and Exchequer posts are vacant. Constable (non athletic area safety coordinator) and Marshal (athletics safely coordinator) as well as the vacant posts above could use deputies in the near future.

Carolus asked all who can to attend Crown Prints Prize Tourney on July 13th. This is the carnival type fund raiser for the Kingdom monthly event calendar/newsletter. Opportunities for fighting, playing games of skill, watching a pile of fleece turn into a shawl and enter a raffle for it, and watching scrolls being made. Become a part of the scene by volunteering at the Rat Race/Dormouse Race. Please spend an hour or two to hawk the game, call out the numbers, collect coupons, and give out prizes. We, Carolus and Christina, would very much appreciate those that help at this booth. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend due to a wedding of one of our members who has moved away. We are every happy for Lani but sad we will miss such a fun SCA event.

Volunteers will be needed in October to assist at War Mart at Great Western War especially on Thursday Oct 10 to run the store and on Monday Oct 21 for store take down. Event Stewards/Autocrat are needed to coordinate Mons Draconis Anniversary to be held the first Saturday in May 2003.

Cantonal Arch committee members were not present to give a report on the arch.

There are oodles of opportunities to get together at fighting practices, moniers guild meetings, sewing circles, brewers guild meetings, jewelry guild meetings, metal working guild meetings, new comers meetings, scriptoriums, Lace making guild, circle of bards, Right Noble Guild of Genesius (all facets of theatre), Kingdom Clothiers guild, and coming soon: local archery practices. (Hopefully event calendars/guide booklet will be finished soon) Until then, please contact me, the Chatelaine at for info. There is always someplace to go and something to do.
